“It was a great honor to serve the national interests of my country for nearly two decades, fostering its European and Euro-Atlantic integration, while defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity. I remain committed to Georgia's EU Future!” the diplomat wrote on Platform X.
Tea Maisuradze, the wife of Telavi Municipality Mayor Levan Andriashvili, was appointed Georgia’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic in 2023. Previously, from 2018 to 2023, she served as Georgia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Latvia.
On November 28, Georgia’s controversial Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, announced that the country would not pursue opening EU accession negotiations until the end of 2028 and would decline EU budget funding. Nevertheless, Kobakhidze claimed that Georgia would continue its path toward the European Union.
This decision sparked protests in Tbilisi and across the regions. In response, Georgia's ambassadors to the United States, Bulgaria, the Netherlands, and Lithuania, along with the acting ambassador to Italy, resigned. Deputy Foreign Minister Teimuraz Janjalia also stepped down.
